VERDE VDI is a true, tier-1, full-stack VDI implementation. It was purpose-built to lower the cost and increase the security of end user computing by centralizing and automating the management and provisioning of virtual desktops. The product is known for several unique differentiators with respect to the major competition - in addition to being half the price and extremely smooth and easy to deploy, manage and use.
First - The ability to treat Windows and Linux as equal citizens is a vastly underrated strength of VERDE VDI. Being able to manage ALL your desktops from one pane of glass is great, but being able to offload MS license costs from users who only need browser-based or SaaS applications, can save you a lot of money. Second - Storage Optimizer: as a side-benefit of our Gold Master dynamic provisioning method, we are able to cache OS and App images on the local server so that extraneous read-writes (IOPS) do not need to go out to external storage. We are able to reduce IOPS per user from roughly 30 with the competition to less than 5. This has huge implications on the cost of one’s storage and one of the reasons we can boast of being half the cost. Third - Cloud Branch: Think of Akamai for VDI. We are able to cache a slice of data center processing down to the branch level where a 1U can sit in the network closet and serve VDI sessions locally while being managed remotely.
This does at least three things - it eliminates WAN latency; it provides business continuity in the event of an external network outage; and, it reduces bandwidth in and out of the remote location by serving the sessions locally. The images, profiles, settings, etc are automatically updated in the background with a block-level versioning system that only sends the blocks that have changed down the wire.
