I bought a used wood stove insert (CEMI Concept 2) to install into my existing fireplace. While researching how to install I realized that what I had planned to do isn't safe.

My setup is best described by the third picture. The woodstove insert I have does not have a stove pipe connection at the back/top it is simply several openings with a flap that opens to control burn. See this picture for a better idea: Is there a way that I can install this safely?

Do I need to be able to install a stove pipe connection to the chimney? Thanks for any advice you can help with.
